Feet Cramping in Ski Boots
Cramping Feet suck! There are few reasons why this might occur while you’re skiing. Lets look at the things that will cause cramps and what you can do about it.
Ski boots too big. Probably the number one reason you will be getting cramps is that you have excess space in your boots. This causes you to strain your feet and put more pressure through your feet just to try and control your skis. You need to avoid the feeling of trying and grab on your boots with your toes.
Anxiety levels. Try to relax your mind and reduce that extra muscle tension. Panicking is not a good way to ski. So ski hard as you can, but focus so you can get into your zone and perform better.
Footbed. I’ve mention this over and over, but yeah, they’re so important. Since they are the connection between you and your skis, it’s essential to have high quality footbed that will give your feet the support and comfort they need. Good footbeds act as shock absorbers and will reduce or even prevent unwanted movement.
Hydration. The problem may not lie in your equipment. The problem might be in you, specifically your hydration. Consuming a lot of fluids and drinking a lot of water is good for your health overall. Sounds silly, but staying hydrated will prevent your feet from cramping.
Blood flow. If your feet are not getting blood which carries the oxygen they need to function properly, they could start to cramp.
