I wish I had discovered it earlier. My ski boots have always been an extra hard to remove this Shuvvir works excellent.
The Shuvvie helps, but isn’t the full answer for my boots. If they were not an AT boot, I would never get into them without a valet. I had to buy a heated boot bag/pack so they are warm when I put them on. I decided that the best thing to do at the end of the day is drive to town with them on and the heat on my feet/boots. Then I pull off the road, get in the backseat, have everything released including the cuff lock, pull the upper cuff back, hold that boot chest high in front of me with the cuff against my other knee then pull my foot out. Repeat for the other foot. This is the strongest position to do this. It’s not possible to pull that hard with the boot on the floor and my hands holding it or a Shuvvie.
I have used the Shuvvie to get into the boots, but it keeps slipping and, usually it’s better to put both hands in to pull the lower apart. Unfortunately, the AT liners have a tongue held in place with Velcro and I cannot pull too hard on that to help open the lower. (Adjusting the tongue though is a good thing. With my low volume foot and the hard to get into lower, I still have awesome heel hold and all day comfort!)
Today, I’m going to try putting some rubber sheet material into the slot of the Shuvvie to see if that helps prevent the slipping.
Wish it had a longer handle and deeper slots where it grips the boot. Not very effective as it is.
I have 2 repaired broken thumbs from an accident a few years ago which makes it difficult to pull boots on, but I’ve struggled through it. I purchased this as an aid to help me put on my boots. Unfortunately, Really have to work harder to make it work properly. Not worth the money for the effort… ended up not using this item because it doesn’t seem to work as well as the old fashioned pull and push. My wife, with no injuries, also had the same result….Sorry, but wouldn’t recommend this as an aid to reduce the effort.
Best ski gadget I have ever purchased!
